Set Up Custom Revit Shortcut Icons (Download Included)
Apr 28, 2025
Users often have to work with multiple Revit versions simultaneously. In some cases, you may be using Revit in different languages. A unique icon helps you find the exact version you are looking for.
We're happy to reveal our collections of free icons, going from Revit 2022 to Revit 2026.
In addition, we have created versions for German, Spanish, and French:
Ready to use: .ico files for Revit 2022 → 2026
Multilingual: English, French, Spanish, German
Fully editable: Layered .psd files so you can swap in any flag
Set all the .ico files on your main drive. We don't recommend using a virtual drive. A good place is to set them here: C:\Autodesk\Icons
Right‑click your Revit shortcut and access the Properties.
Click Change Icon…, browse to your new folder, pick the right file
Click on Apply at the bottom of the properties.
That's it! Repeat for all versions.
1- Duplicate and rename an existing Revit shortcut. Add the language code in the name.
2- Edit the target path: Go to the properties of the new shortcut. In the target, you must add a line with the correct language, using a special code. This Autodesk Help page gives you the correct code for each language.
For the French version, you must add /language FRA after the .exe target.
3- Set the correct icon: In this case, we use the French icon.
Heads‑up: Windows merges language variants in the taskbar, so separate icons only show on the desktop.
Special thanks to Parallax and Slantis for inspiring this set.
