New Revit 2026 Feature: Accelerated Graphics

revit update Apr 07, 2025

Our review of Revit 2026 didn't include one of the features: Accelerated Graphics Tech Preview.

That's because it is an incomplete feature that still has many limitations. It is meant as a "preview" of the final version.

However, we've received many comments saying that this is the best feature in the release:

What are Accelerated Graphics?

Revit doesn't use your graphic card much. Almost everything goes through your processor. That means 3D views of large and complex models will be slow and sluggish, even if you have a killer graphic card.

To resolve this issue, Autodesk created a new graphics engine for Revit: Accelerated Graphics.

In the 2026 release, we have what they called a tech preview. The feature isn't complete, but it's advanced enough to be useful in some contexts.

To try it out, activate this toggle next to the view cube:

Assuming you have a decent graphic card, navigating a complex 3D should be much faster.

What are the limitations?

This is tech preview because the feature is incomplete.

It is not compatible with these settings, effects, and files:

- Effects: Shadows, Depth Cueing, Sketchy Lines, Halftone, Underlay

- Visual Styles: Realistic and Textures

- Lines patterns and thickness

- Linked elements: Coordination models and point clouds

Sheets: doesn't work on sheets, or for viewports on sheets

- Export: accelerated graphics won't export. Regular graphics will be used.

When should I use it?

For now, this might be helpful when using 3D views for modeling or coordination on large models.

What are your thoughts on this feature? Let us know in the comments below.
